How to Check PTA Status of a Phone (DIRBS)
Check if a phone is PTA approved before you buy it: dial *#06# for the IMEI, then send it to 8484 or check on PTA's DIRBS website.
Buying a used or imported phone? Check its PTA status first. It takes one minute.
Step 1: find the IMEI
Dial *#06# on the phone. It shows the IMEI (15 digits). Dual-SIM phones show two.
Step 2: check it
- SMS: send the IMEI to 8484
- Website: enter it on dirbs.pta.gov.pk
- App: use PTA's DVS (Device Verification System) app
What the result means
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Compliant / valid | Approved: works on Pakistani SIMs |
| Non-compliant / unregistered | Tax not paid: will be blocked after the free period |
| Blocked | Reported stolen or blocked: don't buy |
