How to Convert CGPA to Percentage (Out of 4)
There is no single national formula to convert CGPA to percentage in Pakistan. The common method, worked examples, and why you should use your university's own formula.
Pakistani universities grade on a 4.0 CGPA scale, but many forms still ask for a percentage.
The simple method
Percentage = (CGPA ÷ 4) × 100
| CGPA | Percentage (simple method) |
|---|---|
| 4.00 | 100% |
| 3.50 | 87.5% |
| 3.00 | 75% |
| 2.50 | 62.5% |
| 2.00 | 50% |
Why your university's formula matters
Universities set their own grading scales, so the same CGPA can mean a different percentage at two universities. Many print an equivalence table on the back of the transcript.
What to do
- Check the back of your transcript for a conversion table
- If there's none, ask the exam office for a letter showing the equivalent percentage
- Use that official figure on job and admission forms
